The following pie charts address the main reasons for migration to/from UK during 2007. The first one deals with immigration and the second one, with emigration. Both charts are built upon the following variables: formal study, definite job, accompany/join, looking for work, no reason stated and other.
Major reasons for immigration are due to: Definite Job with a 30% and Formal study with a 26%. Therefore, both options cover slightly over 50% of the preferences. Looking for work, Accompany/Join or Other, range between 11% and 15% and No reason stated takes over only 6%.
On the other hand, a main reason for emigration is: Definite Job with 29% of preferences. This percentage is very close to the one given in the immigration pie chart. On the contrary, Formal study only takes care of 4% of the preferences which is quite lower than the 26% mentioned above.
Accompany/Join, Other, No reason stated and Looking keep an average percentage ranging from 13% and 22%.
In conclusion, both pie charts show Definite Job option as the main reason for immigration and emigration close to 30% of preferences. Although, Formal study behaves in opposite ways in each chart.
